Is it a good idea to put up wind turbines in Oakenshaw? Discuss the arguments for and against this.
Summer holidays are just around the corner. What are your plans?
I’m off to North Wales to spend some quality time with my friends and family and read lots of books in the sunshine (hopefully)!
We did it! Congratulations to Oak Class on finishing top of our Real Maths Challenge League table. We sent three of our students to take on the rest of Bradford Primary Schools in a face-to-face challenge and they managed an excellent second place!
So through this year we have, looked at using mathematical language to describe famous paintings; used measurements of our bodies to predict who would be good Olympians; looked at Christmas deals, working out which were the best value; played ‘downhill skier’ and analysed our results using various methods; and created a chance-based game to play at a school fayre. A lot of real maths!
What was your favourite? Why did you enjoy it the most?
Yesterday at the National Media Museum we were lucky enough to see ‘Hubble 3D’ at the IMAX. I found the film fascinating, whilst showing us the practical side of maintaining the Hubble telescope, it also highlighted how instrumental the telescope has been in developing our understanding of our universe. Some of the cinematography was amazing and it was good to see you trying to catch the stars as we cascaded past them to some distance galaxy!
What were your thoughts on the film? What was interesting? What did you learn that you didn’t know before? What other questions has it raised? What do you now want to find out more about?
